About the Job
US Engine Valve is currently seeking a Safety Supervisor in Westminster, SC. The Safety Supervisor is the Primary Emergency Coordinator for the facility.  The ideal candidate will coordinate and monitor the cyanide destruct and ultra filtration systems. Support to Nitride, coolant systems and central wash in the plant.  Initiate EHS regulatory correspondence, report, permit applications, etc.  Advise plant in the areas of environment, ISO 14001 compliance, employee safety and occupational health. Communicates to plant EPA & OSHA regulations and monitors compliance by the plant.  Coordinates projects with appropriate plant staff.  Ensure that USEV is operating in an environmentally safe manner addressing all federal, state, corporate, and customer regulations.  Administer environmental and safety programs for the plant.  Serves as the plant Environmental Management Representative.

Essential functions of the role:
  • Keep facility current in Federal, State, Local, Corporate, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
  • Review and monitor environmental regulations on a timely basis.
  • Prepares required reports, plans and other filings to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Coordinates and communicates with customer environmental requirements.
  • Approves or oversees collection, storage, transportation and disposal of USEV waste materials.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals for EHS risk management.
  • Develop alternative processes or methods to eliminate, reclaim or reduce waste being generated.
  • Participates in the decisions regarding the potential EHS impact of new equipment and processes.
  • Provide technical support to USEV in environmental, health and safety areas.
  • Advises corporate legal staff and supports functions on environmental matters and projects.
  • Champions environmental management system.
  • Establishes environmental management programs and tracks performance toward targets and objectives.
  • Primary contact with regulatory inspectors for all environmental issues.
  • Follows the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System guidelines.

The Safety Supervisor will record any measurable statistics such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, employees supervised (direct and indirect).

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Environmental Science or Biology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing required.
  • Knowledge and experience in EHS regulatory area, analytical laboratory experience and experience in communicating with regulatory agencies.
  • Level A Physical Chemical Wastewater License.
